The Naughty Tinker Game

TINKER A traditional Game that has been played for centuries by many felines and is still played in all parts of the world today. Consists of 1 + felines (more the merrier).

Qualities to be considered assets in this Game:
• Energy
• Risk taking
• Boisterousness
• Tactical skills

Aim of the Game:
• to elongate feline ‘out-door allowance’
• to maximise fully the degree of feline pleasure
Note: pleasure can be enhanced when pitted against (just prior to commuters rush hour) high heels and black sheer tights, or highly polished man shoes.

Rules of the game:
1. play it cool – first exploit fully to the final minute, ALL of ones out-door allowance in the most pleasurable way
            .... and only then..
2. spread out to your most loved garden spots
3. sit.. enjoy.. wait..
4. as human approaches, look pleased to see them, but discreetly duck away if hands reach out for you..
5. proven approach is to DASH in any and every direction (this is especially effective when more than one feline is playing)
continue to enjoy time out
even actively share it with another player
always keep an eye out
collaboration is key - agree tactics..
Decoy example: throw off scent by pretending to feign interest in garden implements if need be..
Camouflage can always be found - but be discreet ..
when anticipating enforced return indoors - immediately check out escape routes..
 Split!
Example: Bing leaps for the fence while Darcy leaps for wall
 ... thwarted?
Example: Spread out then RUN FOR IT again..
Variations:
When there are 2 or more playing – exploit the numbers:-
• Decoy is GOD
• When disturbed scatter in opposite directions
• If push comes to shove – distract human by ‘inadvertently’ breaking off a beautiful flower stem so they are forced to go into ‘salvage’ mode (depending upon your human, they may return indoors with the salvaged stem to pop in vase) MAKE THE MOST OF THIS OPPORTUNITY!

Disclaimer: these are not a complete set of regulations encompassing all situations that felines might encounter in their games. If in doubt, feline players should always abide by house rules (for a quiet life and in order to be fed).

  1. Oh, excellent! Brilliant post!

This is where we boys admit we're ruled by our tummies, and our human gets us in by rattling the treat bag--and giving us treats, of course. Works every single time, we're almost ashamed to admit!

  2. What a delightful game!!! I've seen this played but did not know the rules! Thank you for this insight and I will NOT be sharing this with my kitties. They currently enjoy the treat they receive if they come in when called. Some still give me the quiet half blink "in a minute" look. They come running only when I close the window on them.

  4. Oh what a fun game - totally naughty! We don't ever get to go outside (maybe we are too naughty to head out there) but we think a lot of kitties who do get to go out will enjoy playing it!

  7. Ha! Ha!
We remember playing this game at our old house, where we were only allowed outdoors with human company. It was great fun and gave those humans some exercise too!
Nowadays we have the heaven-sent "cat flap" and can please ourselves.... well, until supper time that is!
